What is the menarrative ?
We're a youth-led creative collective and consultancy committed to shifting the narrative around stories about MENA/SWANA communities. How did the menarrative come to be? Well, one question soon led to another: we wondered, how can we expand visibility for creatives in a world where their stories are too often misunderstood or ignored? And what happens if young people took control of the pen, the paintbrush, the mic, the camera - and became part of the solution?
What do you do exactly ?
Everything. (We're children of MENA immigrants, of course we're overachievers!). We publish original op-eds and poetry from the community. Run a podcast. Host IRL activations and student film screenings. Produce narrative and documentary films that go on to be screened at film festivals nationwide.
But our goal remains the same: to celebrate and empower the next generation of MENA/SWANA creatives to share their art, reclaim their narratives, and stand proudly in who they are.
